About Club governance

Club governance

LION Golf Club Ltd. is a company limited by guarantee. Its governance is deliberately conventional — the point is that members can predict it.

How the club is structured

General Body

Every member in good standing. The General Body elects the Executive Committee, approves the annual accounts and ratifies changes to the club’s constitution at the Annual General Meeting.

Executive Committee

Elected for a two-year term. Responsible for strategy, finances, the fixture calendar and day-to-day administration. The committee meets monthly and publishes its minutes to members.

Standing Sub-Committees

Tournament, Development, Finance & Audit, Membership, and Press & Publicity. Each is chaired by a committee member and may co-opt members with relevant expertise.

Advisory Board

Senior figures from Bangladeshi golf, business and the diplomatic community. The board holds no executive power but is consulted on strategy, partnerships and international representation.

Rules & Handicapping

The club plays to the Rules of Golf as approved by The R&A and administers handicaps under the World Handicap System. Disputes go to the Captain and, on appeal, to the Executive Committee.

Accounts & Audit

Audited annual accounts are prepared by an independent chartered accountancy firm, presented to the General Body and available to any member on request.

What members are entitled to

Every member in good standing may attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting, stand for election to the Executive Committee, propose and second applicants for membership, and inspect the audited annual accounts.

Committee minutes are circulated to members after each monthly meeting. Where a decision affects subscriptions, the fixture calendar or the club’s constitution, it is put to the General Body rather than settled by the committee alone.

Complaints about play, conduct or administration go first to the Captain. Where they are not resolved there, a member may appeal in writing to the Executive Committee, whose decision is final.
