About Honorary members
Honorary members
Honorary membership is conferred by the Executive Committee and confirmed by the General Body. It carries full playing rights and no subscription.
Categories of honorary membership
Diplomatic Patrons
Heads of mission and senior diplomats who have championed the club’s friendship fixtures and opened doors across the international circuit.
Founding Patrons
The members whose contributions established the club and underwrote its first full season of play.
Honorary Life Members
Individuals recognised for outstanding service to golf in Bangladesh — as players, administrators, coaches or benefactors.
Partner Club Honorands
Officers of partner clubs abroad who have hosted LION sides and sustained the reciprocal fixture programme.
How a nomination works
Any two members in good standing may nominate an individual for honorary membership. The nomination is made in writing to the General Secretary and sets out the service being recognised.
The Executive Committee considers nominations twice a year. Where a nomination is accepted it is put to the General Body at the following Annual General Meeting for confirmation, and the honour is conferred at the annual dinner.
Honorary membership is not awarded for donation alone. It recognises service — to the club, to Bangladeshi golf, or to the international relationships the club depends on.
The honours board
Championship winners and honorary members are inscribed on the club board and listed in GOLFERS.
