Golf in Bangladesh Golf tourism

Golf tourism

Seven days, four courses, one country. The club’s standard itinerary for a visiting party — designed so the golf is good, the travel is manageable, and you see something of Bangladesh besides the fairways.

The seven-day itinerary

Adjustable in both directions — parties have compressed it to four days and stretched it to twelve.

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Dhaka

Airport transfer, an afternoon at the practice range and dinner with LION members.

  2. Day 2

    Kurmitola Golf Club

Eighteen holes over the country’s best-known championship parkland, in the centre of the capital.

  3. Day 3

    Army Golf Club

A tighter, tree-lined test, followed by Old Dhaka — the river, the spice markets and Ahsan Manzil.

  4. Day 4

    Travel to Chattogram

Morning flight or the road south, with an afternoon round at Bhatiary above the Bay of Bengal.

  5. Day 5

    Bhatiary G&CC

The full hill course — elevation changes found nowhere else in Bangladesh, and sea views from the ridge.

  6. Day 6

    Sylhet or Savar

Tea-garden country and a round at a quieter club, or a return north for Savar’s wide fairways.

  7. Day 7

    Farewell round and departure

A closing fixture with LION members, lunch at the clubhouse, and transfer to the airport.

What it includes

Golf and logistics

Tee times, caddies, equipment hire where needed, transfers between courses and cities, and a LION host in every round.

Party size

From two players to a full touring side of sixteen. Larger parties are split across two courses on the busiest days.

Cost

Quoted per party, and covering only what is actually paid out — green fees, caddies and transport. The club charges nothing for arranging it.

Beyond the golf

Most visiting parties want at least two days that are not golf. The itinerary builds them in: Old Dhaka’s river front, spice markets and Ahsan Manzil on day three, and a choice on day six between the tea gardens of Sylhet and a quieter round at Savar.

Parties with more time add the Sundarbans, the archaeological sites at Paharpur and Mahasthangarh, or the beach at Cox’s Bazar — the longest natural sea beach in the world, and about an hour’s flight from Dhaka.
