International & embassy golf events

A standing fixture programme with the diplomatic community in Dhaka and with touring sides from abroad. Five hours on a course does what a hundred meetings cannot.

  • Throughout the year

    National Day Rounds

Missions mark their national days with a round hosted jointly with LION. Members are invited by ballot.

  • On request

    Visiting Delegation Golf

Trade missions, touring clubs and visiting officials are hosted at short notice, with tee times, caddies and transport arranged.

  • January – March

    South Asia Friendship Series

A rotating fixture between clubs in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India, played home and away.

The Embassy Friendship Cup

Played each November at Kurmitola, the Friendship Cup is the club’s principal diplomatic fixture. Missions field four-player teams alongside LION members in a scramble format chosen so that ability matters less than company.

Nine missions took part in the 2025 edition. The day closes with a reception at the clubhouse and a presentation to the winning side — in 2025, a joint Team Japan and LION four.

Missions wishing to enter should write to the club office by September. There is no entry fee; the club underwrites the fixture from its sponsorship budget.

Hosting a delegation

The club arranges golf for visiting officials, trade missions and touring clubs at short notice.

What we arrange

Tee times at a suitable course, caddies, equipment hire, transport from your hotel, and LION members to make up the groups.

How much notice

A week is comfortable; two days is usually possible. Friday mornings are the hardest to accommodate.

What it costs

Green fees and caddie fees at the course’s standard visitor rate. The club charges nothing for arranging it.
